Abstract

Librarians working in the university libraries play a crucial role in creating, collecting, consolidating and disseminating the information. Therefore, the satisfaction of these librarians with their job is important to perform with excellence. The research in hand aims to investigate the perceived level of job satisfaction, turnover intentions and the connection of intrinsic job satisfaction factors with turnover intentions among the librarians working in public and private sector university libraries in Pakistan. This research used quantitative research method and administrated a survey questionnaire to approach the library professionals. The cluster sampling strategy was employed to reach the targeted research participants. The total of 444 received responses were screened to identify the errors, missing, and incomplete responses. These results provided a pragmatic insight to the university administrations to consider how librarians’ job satisfaction influences their turnover intensions. By understanding the intrinsic job satisfaction factors that increase the job satisfaction, the management of the universities, may decrease the intentions of library professionals to leave the university/institution.
